Classification and technical differences of spiral plate heat exchangers

Spiral plate heat exchanger is a heat exchanger in which two parallel metal plates are rolled into two spiral channels, and hot and cold fluids exchange heat through the spiral plate wall. There are two types of spiral plate heat exchangers: detachable and non-detachable. The detachable plate heat exchanger is composed of a plurality of stamped corrugated sheets at certain intervals, which are sealed around with gaskets and overlapped by frames and compression screws. The four corner holes of the plate and the gasket form fluid separation. At the same time, the cold and hot fluids are separated reasonably, so that they flow in the channels on both sides of each plate, and heat exchange is carried out through the plates.

1. Welding spiral plate heat exchanger


Alfa Laval welded spiral plate heat exchanger is designed to meet severe heat transfer challenges. Whether it is often polluted by dirty media or limited by pressure drop and floor space, they are all solutions for liquid-to-liquid and two-phase tasks. Rugged, efficient and compact design makes the installation and maintenance cost extremely low, and there is almost no scaling, so it enjoys a high reputation.


Using Alfa Laval's welded spiral plate heat exchanger to improve sustainability. Minimizing scaling or blockage can ensure normal operation in tasks involving very dirty, high-viscosity or granular media. Fewer pipes and steel structures mean lower installation costs. As the thermal efficiency is 2-3 times higher than that of similar shell-and-tube heat exchangers, the energy saving effect is improved and the emission is reduced. Each unit is completely customized, which can provide better thermal adaptation for specific tasks.


2. Detachable spiral plate heat exchanger


The structure is basically the same as that of the non-removable heat exchanger, but the channel can be removed and cleaned, and both ends are sealed with heads. Especially suitable for liquid-liquid exchange of viscous and precipitated liquids, and condensation of gas-liquid and vapor. As the detachable heat exchanger needs to add the head, flange and other parts, the equipment cost is slightly higher than that of the non-detachable heat exchanger.


3. For the basic parameters of spiral plate heat exchanger, the nominal pressure PN is specified as 0.6, 1, 1.6 and 2.5Mpa (i.e. the original 6, 10, 16 and 25kg/cm2). The test pressure of single channel (referring to higher working pressure) is 1.25 times of the working pressure. The spiral plate heat exchanger in contact with the medium is made of carbon steel Q235A and Q235AF, and stainless steel acid steel SUS321 and SUS304. Other materials can be selected according to users' requirements. Permissible working temperature: carbon steel t = 0 ~+350℃, stainless steel acid steel t =-40 ~ 500℃, and the range of temperature rise and pressure drop is in accordance with the relevant regulations of pressure vessels. When selecting the equipment, the fluid in the channel of the equipment should reach turbulent state through proper process calculation. (Generally, the liquid flow rate is 1m/sec and the gas flow rate is 10m/sec). A single device can't meet the use requirements, and multiple devices can be used in combination, but the combination must meet the following requirements: parallel combination and series combination: the distance between the devices and the channel is the same. Combination: one channel in parallel and one channel in series. Non-removable (I-type) spiral plate heat exchanger made of stainless steel PN0.6 and 1.6MPa.
